Privacy Policy — Distinction Tuition School

This Privacy Policy explains how Distinction Tuition School ("we", "our", "us") collects and uses information when you use our website, app and in-person programs (the "Service"). We take your privacy seriously and only collect what we need to deliver the learning experience you signed up for.

What we collect

Account data — full name, phone number, school/grade, and a hashed password.
Profile data — optional profile photo, bio, school name and grade level if you provide them.
Payment data — your Mobile Money reference, the amount paid, screenshot of the transaction and (for in-person payments) the name of the staff member who received it. We do not store full card or bank credentials.
Learning activity — which lessons you opened, watched, completed and how far you progressed.
Support messages — anything you send us through the contact form, WhatsApp or email.
Device/technical data — IP address, browser/device type and basic logs needed to keep the Service secure.

How we use it

To run your account and grant access to the programs you paid for.
To verify and approve payments and prevent fraud.
To send you renewal reminders and important account notifications.
To improve our lessons, fix bugs and personalise your dashboard.
To respond when you contact us for help.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

Sharing

We only share data with: (a) trusted infrastructure providers that host the platform under strict confidentiality (e.g. cloud hosting, database, storage); (b) Mobile Money providers and our bank, strictly to verify payments; (c) authorities when required by Zambian law.

Storage & security

Your data is stored on encrypted cloud infrastructure with access restricted to authorised staff. Passwords are hashed. We use TLS in transit. No system is perfect — please keep your password private and notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised access.

Retention

We keep account, learning-progress and payment records for as long as your account exists and for a reasonable period thereafter to meet legal, financial and audit obligations. Support messages are retained while we work with you and for record-keeping.

Your rights

You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct any inaccuracies, or ask us to delete your account. Some records (e.g. payment audit trails) may need to be retained for legal reasons even after deletion. Email distinctiontuitionschool@gmail.com to make a request.

Children

Many of our learners are minors. We require parent/guardian consent for any student under 18. Parents/guardians may contact us at any time to view or remove their child's data.

Cookies & local storage

We use only the cookies and local-storage values needed to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (e.g. video quality) and keep the platform secure. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest version. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
